Taste bud cells might not be a target of Covid-19

Contrary to the previous findings, which stated that the novel coronavirus directly targets taste buds cells in Covid-19 patients, a new study has now revealed that the loss of the sense of smell and taste linked to inflammation caused by the infection. The Virus causes infection by invading specific cells in the body and reproducing, often damaging or killing those cells in the process.
