Salmonella infections kill about a million people worldwide each year, and better vaccines for both typhoid fever and non-typhoidal Salmonella disease are needed badly. Memory T cells, which are critical for a vaccine that induces a powerful immune response, can be recruited into the liver of a Salmonella mouse model, according to new research from the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine.
