Study provides more information on how diabetes can accelerate the growth of blood cancer

People with multiple myeloma, a blood malignancy, have lower survival rates if they also have diabetes, according to a study published in Blood Advances. However, the study found that this difference in survival rates due to diabetes was only observed in white patients and not in black patients. The study also found that diabetes was more prevalent among younger black patients with multiple myeloma.
