New class of antiviral drugs against Covid infection developed

Scientists have discovered a new class of antiviral drugs with the potential to prevent or treat COVID-19 infections in a future outbreak. In a study published in the journal Nature, the researchers show that SARS-CoV-2 - the virus that causes COVID-19 - activates a pathway in cells that stops the production of peroxisomes and interferon, both key parts of the normal immune response.
