James Webb Telescope uncovers clues of hidden supermassive black hole in M83 galaxy

Astronomers using the James Webb Space Telescope have found compelling evidence of a supermassive black hole at the heart of the Messier 83 galaxy. Webb's Mid-Infrared Instrument detected highly ionised neon gas, suggesting an active galactic nucleus previously hidden by dust. Further observations with ALMA and VLT are planned to confirm the black hole's presence and explore alternative explanations.
