Astronomers studying six planets orbiting a star 100 light years away have found that the planets orbit their star in perfect synchrony, with orbital periods that are ratios of whole numbers. This gravitational alignment, known as orbital resonance, allows the planets to exert a gravitational push and pull on each other during their orbits.
